You may wonder why the crosses in Don't Break the Chain have to be placed on a calendar. This is where the game mechanic 'time' comes into play. A square box is a square box. A square box with a date in it has a time limit of 24 hours. After 24 hours, the box is no longer available to place a cross in. In games, the mechanic 'time' provides extra excitement and fun. Your heart rate increases when you have to complete a level within a certain time. And as your heart rate increases, the oxygen supply to your brain also increases and you become sharper and more alert.
In the Don't Break the Chain method, the '24-hour levels' force you to complete your task within that time.
