Check if the domain name is already actively in use. Taking over an active domain name is difficult, but not impossible.
Also check if there are any known historical transactions and if there has been any activity on the domain name.
Find out which party is the holder of the domain name. You can do this via the so-called WHOIS .
Do some research on this party. For example, check if it is a trader.
Set a budget that you want to spend on the domain name and determine the (economic) value of the domain name.
Determine the acquisition strategy you are going to use. An experienced broker uses different strategies.
Contact the relevant party: the game has begun.
If you reach an agreement, it is wise to draw up a sales contract in which all agreements are recorded. Make sure that both parties sign it and that the person in question is authorized to enter into the agreement.
If desired, use an escrow. You pay a small fee and then the escrow ensures that both parties fulfill their obligations.
After payment you will receive the transfer code of the domain name. Transfer the domain name to your hosting provider and then change the registration (WHOIS) to your own details.
