Google Discover: What it is and how to get the most out of it

Post by Md5656se »

Just when you thought that everything had already been invented in the field of online traffic, Google Discover comes along and gives the matter a new twist.

And what a comeback!

Google Discover, a new –not so new, since it's from 2017– way to squeeze the use of mobile devices and tablets, is a whole world that is well worth taking a look at.

I can think of three ways to take advantage of it, but let's start at the beginning.

What is Google Discover?
Google Discover is what was previously called Google Feed. In short, it is a Google feature that consists of offering you content without you asking for it based on different sources.

You may not have even noticed because Android phones come with it as standard, but yes, Google has an app .

An app that can also be installed on an iOS system, so if you have a smartphone with one of the two most widely used mobile operating systems –by far– in our country, Google Discover is for you.

But let's focus on the phrase at the beginning, on the "without you asking", which has substance.

Google's AI is now able to show you content of interest on your smartphone or code phone number philippines tablet on its own, with complete autonomy.

In one fell swoop, the concepts of keywords, queries or search intentions have been eliminated, because in Discover there are no searches and without them, queries and keywords are meaningless.

Look, shortly after opening Discover for the first time, Google showed me this:

I don't live in Alfinach, although I am close by.

And yes, I do like football.

Although the teams thing seems to be generic due to the popularity of the sport, it is a little scary to think about what it is capable of if it uses artificial intelligence .

But hey, keep in mind that Google has been working on an optimal user experience for some time now and this is just another step along the way.

How does Google Discover work?
To put it bluntly, Google Discover shows you content cards that AI thinks might be of interest to you.

You can get practically everything from sports news, marketing news, technology news, travel news…

And you can do very little to intervene, because although you can choose your preferred categories and deactivate the sources from which the AI feeds, when it accesses all the information that the big "G" has about you, it already forms a deep idea of what you like and what you don't.
