Runners and cyclists have been struggling during the pandemic. How do you find a mask that will keep you safe while not making your workout a chore? Reebok has found a solution.

Most fitness masks on the market today are designed not to filter particles, but to simulate low oxygen levels. In the pre-coronavirus world, they were used to recreate the conditions of running at high altitudes and increase cardiorespiratory endurance. Reebok is developing masks that can meet current needs, while ensuring comfort and safety during training. The cayman islands number data company has also thought about what the fitness masks of the future will look like.

A number of experts believe that environmental degradation combined with more frequent pandemics could make masks a common part of training even after the current crisis is over.

“Unfortunately, this is the new normal,” says Don Albert, head of the Creation Center, Reebok’s European innovation lab. “Many people already regularly wear masks when exercising outdoors, especially in Asia. The coronavirus has only intensified this need.”

Albert and his team have come up with three versions of masks that will not only protect athletes from harmful particles in the atmosphere, but also allow them to receive information about their oxygen levels and other vital signs. So far, these are just prototypes, but they give an idea of the changing reality.

“We tried to imagine what the fitness of the future would look like,” says Albert. “Why not create a mask that people would wear not because they had to, but because they wanted to?”
