It's not uncommon to find sites existing on duplicate URLs (non- and , and S, etc.), but this can be easily resolved by 301 redirecting all variations to a single canonical URL.

Be sure to use redirects to prevent possible duplicate URLs between:

Non- and
and S
Trailing slash () and non-trailing slash URLs
Uppercase and lowercase URLs

Common redirection issues
We’ve gone over what redirects are, the different types, and some ways to avoid common problems, but let’s also answer some of the most common questions on the topic.

Do redirects pass on page authority?
Yes.

If the content on Page A and Page B is a close match, PageRank will pass along the redirect, even when a 302 redirect is used. When there is no match between the content, the redirect is classified as a soft 404 and does not decrease PageRank.

However, 301 redirects should be used in preference to when you want to pass link authority to a new URL.
