Facebook, Twitter & Content Moderation – Mark Zuckerberg promises to review some of Facebook’s content moderation rules – but that won’t necessarily lead to reforms . Some advertisers are pulling out of the platform . Facebook groups are grappling with inadequate moderation policies for Black Lives Matter posts , and the platform is advising group admins to add people of color as moderators . Biden’s campaign will push his supporters to pressure Facebook to strengthen its rules against misinformation and harmful comments . Twitter is removing accounts linked to state-run disinformation operations (China, Russia, Turkey) .
IBM, Amazon, Microsoft & Facial Recognition – IBM is band database pulling out of the facial recognition market in the name of combating racial profiling . Amazon is banning US police from using its facial recognition software for a year . Microsoft will also not sell its facial recognition technology to police departments until its use is legally regulated .
