I think that should always be as accurate as possible

I think it is a mistake not to take into account the ideal customer of the site. Any decision should be made with the ideal customer in mind. Minimalism is exactly what is behind Freesoul Deactivate Plugins. If you really need plugins, use them, but load them only where they are needed, not everywhere. On the pages where you deactivate the useless ones, enjoy the ones you leave active, enjoy the features they add to that page and do not give up anything that can serve to show the site to the ideal customer of that site.

As for the choice of plugins, . I think that choosing a mobile no. list plugin is a bit like choosing what we eat. Plugins become part of the ecosystem of the site, and just one poorly made one can negatively affect the entire system. The health of the site depends on its components, so the WordPress core, the theme and the plugins. As for the WordPress core we have practically no control other than keeping it always updated. As for plugins and theme instead we have full decision-making power.

Before installing a plugin that I have never tried before, I always do speed tests with and without the plugin under test and then evaluate the cost-benefit ratio of the plugin. I usually do not trust articles about plugins unless they are written by people I know and consider competent. The web today is full of articles that often speak well of a certain product only for economic interests.

Evaluating a plugin on your own installation takes just a few minutes, and you have the advantage of trying it in your situation which could be completely different from that of the blogger who uses the same plugin.

Conclusions
Since I read the book “I Love It!” by Emily Heyward I think that the choice to use high definition images, animations, sliders, pop-ups or other features should be made only after understanding how to best express the brand identity to your audience.

But it is always good to have clear business objectives: if our site has an SEO strategy it must follow the rules of the web and performances are fundamental today!
