2. Use a preference center & apply subscription management
Set up a preference center (preference page) and apply subscription management . A preference center is a page where someone can see for which contact moments and/or forms of communication (for example type of mailings, retargeting, offline communication tools, such as magazines or invitations etc.) a person can register and for which he or she has already registered. You can also expand this page to a profile overview page, where you give your contacts insight into the data obtained and provided by them. Here you can also give them the option to change and delete the data. Furthermore, you can also indicate on this page how long you store the data. Marketing automation tools usually offer the option to set up a preference center with subscription management.

The big advantage of a preference center with subscription management is that you also prevent contacts from unsubscribing from all communications, because they can see all options here and can also subscribe or unsubscribe from specific communications.

Tip: try to set up the preference center as simply as possible and explain the how, what, and why in plain language. Of course, also mention that you as an organization do everything you can to protect personal data. If necessary, refer to the privacy statement for additional information. This creates trust and contributes to a good relationship.

Unfortunately, I have not yet found a comprehensive, good example. I have added (for the idea) a preference page from Jetsetter, which applies to their e-mail subscriptions. I find this example visually and textually clear. This is (still) not sufficient for the new privacy law, but it could be expanded well to comply with the privacy law.Preference center

3. Optimize your privacy statement
Optimize your privacy statement for the new hk phone number privacy law. In the privacy statement, you can generally include information about compliance with the GDPR. Aim to include all information in your privacy statement that is required under the GDPR. Have your privacy statement checked for completeness by a lawyer. Then you will know for sure whether your privacy statement is sufficient.

I am very charmed by Microsoft's privacy policy , as it is understandable, extensive, complete and clear. When your privacy statement is ready, place it centrally on your website, so that it is easily accessible for visitors.

4. Run a 'Privacy Quick Scan'
You can also perform a Privacy Quick Scan . The quick scan is a tool for organizations to quickly and clearly gain insight into the extent to which they comply with the GDPR. After the quick scan, you will know to what extent you comply with the new privacy legislation. And what possible points for improvement you can implement as an organization. Various parties offer these types of scans.

Do you already comply with the new European privacy law or the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)? Or do you have any good examples? Let me know in a comment.
