How do negative keywords work in Yandex Direct?

Negative words are added when setting up campaigns in Yandex Direct along with key phrases. Ads are not shown for search queries that contain negative words.
Example. An advertising campaign has the keyword "buy a fountain pen". But the store only sells expensive premium Montblanc pens, and it is not interested in users who are looking for cheap gel or ballpoint pens. Therefore, the list of negative keywords includes the words "cheap", "inexpensive", "used", and others. Now, if a user enters the query "buy a fountain pen", the ad is shown, but if "buy a fountain pen inexpensively" - it is not.
