Looking ahead Another reason many bloggers and online business owners spend a lot of time on content is because there is a strong correlation between number of blog posts and ad revenue per thousand impressions. If your main source of income is advertising, then generally the more blog posts you create, the more traffic you get and the more money you make… which makes sense, but only to a point! First, what will happen to your blogging business if the next Google update causes your traffic to drop drastically?

Or ad revenue per thousand impressions suddenly drops? Or is usa business fax list cookiepocalypse really as bad as some people predict? Focusing solely on ad revenue is an extremely unstable business model! Second, advertising – by its very nature – will always bring in less revenue than selling a product… This is down to the fundamental principles of how advertising works… Companies that pay for advertising always want to pay less to advertise a product that they earn by selling it.

Usually much less. If you get paid for ads on your site (or affiliate referrals for that matter), that means some other business is making more money from your traffic than you are . Otherwise they wouldn't be paying for those ads. Selling your own products cuts out the middleman.
