Don't distort the message

Post by rochon.a1.119 »

What type of data visualization to choose?
Data visualization can help you get your message across, but you need to take certain precautions if you want to choose the format that best suits your needs.

Step 1 - Work with a clean and complete dataset
If there are holes, it will be reflected in the display, as not only will the message not be complete, but it will probably be altered, something you definitely don't want.

Step 2 - Think about your audience
Choosing a data visualization for a sales report is not the same as choosing one for a corporate report, or for an audience that is familiar with the topic in depth as for those who are not familiar with the subject.

For the former, the visualization should be deep enough to provide value, while for the latter, a simple graph will suffice.

If you choose the wrong data visualization to represent your lebanon mobile database message, it won't get through.

Imagine you want to convey that sales have increased incrementally over the past four quarters.

If you choose a pie chart and superimpose several of them to cover more information, the audience will not receive the message, but rather a set of confusing ideas that they have to relate without you having given them the necessary tools.

Instead, use a bar chart with colors that reflect the ranges, or a line chart like the comparison charts offered by Google Analytics.

You can make quick comparisons and clearly see how each of the metrics has performed individually.
