LinkedIn is the new Facebook

Post by sami »

“This morning session has given me a new morning routine as a night owl. I could never have imagined getting up before 8 a.m. and then sitting at the computer ready to listen. The attentive and concentrated atmosphere of the whole group gives me hope that communication with many people can be short and precise. I was able to experience it every day. I am also very grateful for the large number of lectures. I learned and experienced so many new things “along the way”. This group is/was a real enrichment for my everyday work. Thank you for your commitment to setting up and leading this group. Thank you also to everyone for so much inspiration.” – Cornelia Leisch
“I have been following you on Facebook for years and had the chance to see you at a live event in Munich.
I love your incredible wit paired with professional competence. I think it's all the more of a shame that it took me so long to get to the morning session.
Thank you for 3 inspiring weeks in this great group. The topics were enriching, but I was particularly impressed by your loving but also crystal-clear group leadership. I learned a lot on a professional but also personal level. It was nice to see how many different personalities in the group treated each other with such appreciation. It was a great feeling and made for a good start to the day. Thank you for this valuable offer and thank you for giving us so much of your time.” – Bettina Hofmann
“I would also like to thank you very much for your initiative here with this morning session. Even though I have only taken part in it a few times, I have always come back to read, received suggestions forex data from the feedback from the participants and was able to get a lot of input and network through various PDFs and links. I find that very enriching. It's great that I was able to take part. Thank you.” – Jana Schlosser
“After this (!) morning exchange and dialogue with experts from my field and other fields, I started the day more “grounded”. I feel broader, enriched, motivated and satisfied. Thank you to everyone.” – Anke Tielker
PS: LinkedIn is (still) not the new Facebook
is something we hear a lot recently. Especially for professional exchanges, many discussions that previously took place on Facebook are moving to the business network LinkedIn. I share this perception. But in the area of groups, I can confirm from personal experience what many others have also observed: so far, Facebook groups are still much more active than LinkedIn groups. Here, at least in German-speaking countries, it is much more difficult to generate constant activity and stimulate discussion.

I set up the LinkedIn group so that people who are not logged on to Facebook could also participate. In fact, a number of people found their way to the morning group via LinkedIn. However, there was very little activity in the group itself beyond my postings with topics and schedules. Admittedly, this is a personal experience, but it is consistent with many experiences that others have told me about. However, I am excited to see how this will develop over the next few years and can well imagine that it will change.
