This guide will cover keyword collection in depth. For now, let’s assume you’ve spent a few hours collecting a long list of keywords, you’ve removed duplicates, and you have semi-reliable search volume data.

Part 2: Terminological analysis
Now that you have an unmanageable list of 1,000+ keywords, let's turn it into something useful.

We break each keyword down into its component terms that comprise the keyword, so we can see which terms occur most frequently.


When working with a client (or doing it for ourselves), there are typically 3 questions we want answered for every hot word:

Which of these terms are most important to your business? (0-10)
Which of these terms are negative keywords (we want to ignore or avoid)?
Any other opinions on qualified or high-intent keywords?
We reduce the list, removing any venezuela number data keywords or keywords that are not really important to the website.

Once we have a final list of hot words, we organize them into broad topic groups like this:




The different colors don't mean anything, but when we group them together they help keep it visually organized.
One important thing to note is that word stems play an important role here.
