He said that in the coming years, BBC TV and radio channels would no longer be broadcast in a linear format and that people needed to prepare for it. In the director general’s vision, the channels and radio stations would no longer broadcast under separate names, but under a single entity, the BBC. Tim Davie had already announced that BBC Four and CBBC would soon be broadcast only on the internet. Other channels are expected to follow. For Tim Davie, the challenge will be not to exclude the millions of Britons – often older, poorer or living in rural areas – who do not have a broadband connection.
