It was mentioned several times how important it is to know your
target group, to understand how they think, to what emotions they react most.
In addition, a controversy erupted as to whether it is better to “teach a baker online
marketing or a marketer to bake”. The majority opinion was to introduce internal
employees to the secrets of online marketing, and the marketing specialist would act
as a consultant and trainer.
The lecture by Štěpán Škrob , product manager at Seznam,
was the most technical and fun. I took away
two things from it, to put it mildly – that everything is simple, and that websites should be made for
people, not search engines.
In conclusion, Marek Prokop raised several ideas and they could have been
discussed in depth at the afterparty.
BarCamp started awkwardly, the introductory lectures
gave me almost nothing except getting to know my fellow attendees. Unfortunately, I found out that I didn't choose
the best ones. Then, as an online "marketer", I went to listen to
a lecture on application testing and I can definitely recommend going to presentations
slightly outside your field. It will give you a different perspective on things and I think it can only help.
After lunch – Mára enjoyed it quite a bit – Jindra F. and I
went to listen to why not to make small e-shops. We agreed that
it turned out that we should not make e-shops, since linkedin database I know nothing about business, marketing and
business. This was followed by an engaging lecture by Roman Hřebecký , I definitely recommend going to listen to him sometime, which only confirmed the idea from Friday that a marketer should primarily be in the position of an external consultant and, above all , show the company the way.
And the best part is that during Michal Janík's lecture, I
took note of several ideas for our websites and was inspired for further
marketing steps.
A final word
In the end, I was very happy to have attended both events,
I enjoyed both days. Even though my expectations, perhaps exaggerated or
wrong in some places, were not 100% fulfilled. For example, at BarCamp, I would have liked longer
discussions at the expense of the speakers' lectures, most of the most interesting information
was given at the end of each presentation.
