What are microcopy?
They are all those short texts or contact messages, such as buttons, forms, welcome messages, menus , which help the browsing experience by increasing user involvement and increasing conversion . This is true for everything: websites, e-commerce, apps, games, but also in the off-line world, such as product packaging.
Microcopy serves to efficiently guide users to take an action.
Sometimes they are discreet and go unnoticed, even though they do their importance of lawyer database job very well. Other times they are true micro masterpieces of writing, capable of raising a smile or arousing emotions.
Precisely because of the importance of these texts, together with the longer ones, the figure of the UX Writer was born , alongside that of the UX Designer.
A UX Writer is responsible for writing the best words within an interface , words that are able to help the user during navigation and improve their experience.
However, for microcopy to be useful and work properly, you need to:
know the user well;
maintain the brand's personality.
Write messages addressed to the user
Microcopy is useful in all those cases in which it is necessary to "give a push" to the user , therefore above all to bring them to action, such as filling out forms or purchasing a product, or even to ease a little those negative situations that can arise in 404 pages or in generic errors.
