The third Metta meditation is about connecting with all beings on Earth and developing benevolence and care for all the different types of beings that live on our planet.
We send benevolence and care to all enlightened beings and to all unenlightened beings. (Traditionally, enlightened beings are those who act responsibly, are happy and healthy. Unenlightened beings, on the other hand, are those who suffer.)
Other possible groups of people are the sick and the healthy. People who do instagram data good for the world and the ignorant. People who live in houses and the homeless. Beings that live in the air and beings in the water. Immobile beings, like stones, and extraordinarily mobile beings, like a buzzing swarm of bees. Sharon Salzberg says it is important to always think of the opposite pairs so that no one is forgotten.
We wish all of you: May you be happy. May you be physically healthy. May you be mentally healthy. And whatever we have decided to wish for these beings.
Finally, we extend our good wishes to all beings.
