Build on that.
Free-writing is based on not thinking and just letting your fingers flow. It's a wonderful way to overcome writer's block .
Exercise #16: What if…
What if Germany had won World War II? What if you had never met your current partner? What if you had been born in a different city?
Write it down.
You can play great mind games and train your creativity. Don't forget: your brain is a muscle. Only training will make you and your writing style better .
Exercise #17: The Quote
Take a famous quote and rewrite it. "I came, I saw and I conquered" can become "I sat, I ate and I conquered the buffet." With a little practice, you can learn to breathe new life into hackneyed phrases. Here are a few more famous quotes you can have fun with:
