Even 100 years ago, the term was rejected by some physicists.
As a modern author, you want to be read. That's why you write clearly and understandably.
Compare: “The theory of relativity represented a quantum leap in physics.”
(Physicists understand the double meaning of the sentence. Einstein described quantum mechanics throughout his life as incomplete and partly wrong. And he was wrong.)
Better: “The theory of relativity dominican republic telegram screening revolutionized physics. It created a new understanding of space and time and replaced Newton's classical mechanics after more than 200 years.”
Your German teacher has forbidden you to use these words. Your parents have driven them out of you.
Because they are evil. Bad. Inappropriate.
You don't say it. You don't write it.
Ugh! Yuck!
There is one dialogue I will never forget in this context.
A father friend and his 8-year-old daughter are sitting together. The father is telling us about his day and a "Shit!" slips out of his mouth.
