The TRUST method in the Netherlands
'Okay, great that this method was such a success in a popular industry in America', I thought to myself '...but would it also work in my industry in our small Netherlands?' Only one way to find out . So let's get to work!

Step 1: Choose a hot topic within your industry
Within our company, we specialize in lead generation – both online and offline, and both outbound and inbound . When we searched for a hot topic in our industry in early June, there could only be one: the GDPR privacy law that will be enforced from May 25th.


Because we take our profession (and the laws that limit it) very seriously, we have studied the GDPR to death. If I step away from my desk to get a drink, colleagues will shout “Log out! GDPR!” And transparency is a top priority in the call scripts of our call center agents.

We expect our government to set an example in this and therefore also adhere to the rules of the AVG privacy law. This raised the question of whether our government agencies would also act online according to this new legislation.

No research had yet been done on municipal websites, which was a gap in the market for us.

Not GDPR-proof

We quickly saw that there was a lot wrong with india telegram data the municipal websites, but decided to focus on one part: Article 37 of the General Data Protection Regulation . This article requires government websites to appoint a data protection officer and include this in the privacy statement.

We manually examined the privacy statement of the 10 largest municipalities per province (115 municipal websites in total). Transparency in who the data protection officer is, was lacking in many municipalities and therefore the website is not GDPR-proof.

Step 3: Write an eye-catching headline
After manually examining the municipal websites and calculating the numbers, we came up with the following headline for our article: '40% municipal websites in violation of GDPR privacy law'. We published the article about our GDPR research on our own website.
