Without clicks, there's no paradise (and Google can remove you from its search results)

Post by bithee975 »

GGoogle has revealed that its systems can decide to remove a page from its search results if users don't interact with it in their results view. This confirms the importance of interaction in favoring or denying ranking and indexing in the search engine.

This information was hinted at in a short phone number list published on the Google Search Central YouTube channel. In this post, Google Developer Relations Martin Splitt responded to a user's question: " My site has been indexed and the pages have been added to the sitemap, but they still don't appear in searches ."

Google may decide that it made a mistake in selecting your page.
Splitt explained that even if a web page is indexed and added to the sitemap, this doesn't guarantee that it will appear in search results. He outlined the key stages of the search process .

First, Google needs to discover the URL (this is facilitated by the sitemap). After this, it crawls it and evaluates its content. If it finds it useful, it includes it in its index . Finally, when a person performs a search on Google, its system makes a selection from among all indexed pages , at which point your page may or may not be selected.

Splitt indicates that there are several reasons why Google might not select your page . " If they don't appear, it's because the query is a bit strange, because it hasn't been requested that often, or because we have other pages that we think would be more helpful to the user. This is a performance issue that's likely related to the content of the pages."
