The BIM Estimate project was created only a year ago, but is already actively developing. Its goal is to use the potential of BIM for developing estimate documentation to the maximum.

Alexey Kovalchuk noted four main problems in the organizational process of preparing estimates using the example of using the BIM 5D Estimate software product.

IM - the information model does not contain the information necessary to obtain an estimate or to calculate the estimated cost
Functional - There are functional limitations of the BIM 5D Estimate software
Organizational - existing business processes will not work due to insufficient awareness of estimators or designers
Technological — existing or classic estimating software does not work with BIM systems, SNB does not take into account the features of BIM. Some intermediary is needed, for example, BIM 5D Estimate
On the development of an electrical engineering information model
After unloading data from the Revit information model using 5D Estimate software and estimating software, a prototype estimate was obtained. Why a prototype? To obtain a finished estimate in accordance with the requirements established in the regulatory documents on pricing, some information was missing (price parameters, resources, volume of work).

Afterwards, this missing information is identified and added to the information model by the designer. The addition of the estimate is done according to the formulas from the previously given specification, which allows avoiding discrepancies in the information that the designer laid down. In addition to the estimate, resources are taken into account, they are automatically assigned according to physical parameters.

The division and structuring of specification elements is done by sets. The estimate structure is created automatically, but it can be modernized. For example, create a separate section and take out the elements separately. Then the finished documentation must be transferred to the estimate program and the documentation must be brought to the current price.

The estimate documentation also includes a statement of work volumes, which can be obtained from 5D Estimate. The file is exported in a template format, which can be customized if necessary.

As a result, you receive an almost ready statement of volumes of work, which is accepted by the Main State Expertise of Russia - a structure with sections, prices and volumes of work with sources and calculation formulas.
