How digital transformation is changing work

The latest research from ServiceNow , a leading provider of cloud-based digital workflows, shows that employees of companies that embrace digital transformation say they are more satisfied, enjoy greater career opportunities, and are able to dedicate more time to creative activities.

Digital transformation is changing the world of work and the way we work. European employees state that digitalization enables the automation of operational tasks , thus enabling more meaningful tasks and activities. Despite this, only a small portion of companies have automated processes, leaving over two-thirds of tasks unfinished and manual.

But the change is not limited to the automation of certain operations: employees of European companies that have adopted automation report greater satisfaction ; greater shop customer satisfaction and improved productivity are observed; the time employees are free to dedicate to creative activities is becoming increasingly influential on satisfaction . Finally, two-thirds of the sample say that automation has improved their organization's financial performance, and almost half believe they have benefited from increased job creation.

But the big step forward is that employees are more worried about change than about machines . Much rhetoric has been created around the theme of "fear of machines ." Employees, however, seem more concerned about change than about a robot taking over their jobs. Their concerns are more focused on having to learn new skills or change their " modus operandi "; only a small percentage still fear losing their jobs.
