Do I have to declare online sales?

Post by jrineakter »

Online sales are the present and the future, but legislation has only recently begun to take them into account and is becoming increasingly regulated.

Therefore, if we sell on the Internet, it is important to know what to declare.
Selling on the Internet
If you are an individual who sells things on the Internet sporadically, you do not need to declare your online sales, but WARNING! The Treasury is getting serious and now considers that if you have made a profit on your sales, that is, you have sold something for an amount greater than what you bought it for, you must declare your profit on your tax return. But come on, if it is something sporadic you should not worry.
If you are an individual who sells regularly, you will have to become a professional if you have not already done so. The first thing is to register as a self-employed person or create a commercial company and start paying taxes as such legal entities that we will now explain.

Companies or self-employed
If your activity is not online sales, and you do some of them sporadically, you do not need to change your activity heading, but you must do so like any other professional activity, with the corresponding sales invoice and the relevant VAT rate.
If your activity is online sales, you must be registered under heading:
665: Retail trade by mail order or catalogue.
Remember that to register or modify your activity heading you can do so with the Treasury using form 036 or 037.
Online sales allow you to sell to the whole south korea number data world relatively quickly. It is quite normal that you end up making some sales outside of Spain and, therefore, you must know the applicable regulations for each case.

Internet sales to individuals
For example, if we sell to individuals (final consumers) within the EU, we must register and apply the VAT of the country of destination if:

Sales in that country exceed €35,000.
Until then, we must make our sales with Spanish VAT.
Member States of the European Union 2014

If we sell to individuals outside the EU, we do not have to charge VAT.

Internet sales to legal entities
If we sell to a legal entity (i.e. a self-employed person or company), we will not charge VAT as long as they have an active Intra-Community VAT number.
Otherwise, we will issue the invoice with Spanish VAT.

Automate everything with Holded
The good thing about online sales is that in a short time and with relatively little investment we can achieve many sales. The bad thing is that if we are not organized, we can lead our accounting into chaos.
With Holded you can use our API to connect your business and create invoices automatically, have them available whenever you want and, as always, Holded will make all the accounting entries automatically.
